Long 'lost' family

What I mean when I say 'lost' is the fact that I have not seen or had contact with some members of the family for a long period of time - 8 years to be exact.

Genuinely, for personal family reasons I have not been able to see them and tonight I have finally found them via Social Media. Now, my family is huge on my mum's side; I have 12 Aunties and Uncles, god knows how many cousins, 2nd cousins, 3rd cousins and so on, and I have no idea how many great Aunties and Uncles I have as well. So having all these people in my family makes me know for sure I don't even know the half of them!

The only close family I have known for most of my life are my mum's 3 brothers and sisters, but because my Nana and Grandad were married before they both married each other, there are 8 other half-brothers and half-sisters that my mum also has. It is complicated - I know.

Daniel and I thought of a really good question that would confuse people because of how complicated my family is:

If my Nana had four Children and my Grandad had four children, how many children are all together?
4, 8, or 12?
Now you would think 8, which is wrong. You or other people would not realise that my Nana has four children with her ex-husband, or that my Grandad has four children with his ex-wife. But also that my Nana and Grandad both have four children together once they had married each other. So all together there are 12 children.

Anyway, for many reasons, my closest Aunties and Uncles had fell out of touch so I haven't seen them for years, and I have never met any other Aunties and Uncles that are my mum's half-brothers and half-sisters; they don't live close and I have no idea where they all are in the world. My closest Auntie I still see because she lives in the same area as my Grandparents and my Mum so I can see her family whenever.

Okay, so on my dad's side there are only my Grandparents, Dad and my Auntie. Simple. Thank god. I have 2 cousins which are kids from my Auntie. Now, it gets complicated because I don't know how many sisters and brothers that my Grandad and my Grandma have so I have no idea how many cousins I have as well. Literally is Long Lost Family haha!

Tonight, as I said before, I have not seen these certain family members for 8 years. I found one of my Mum's sister's family on Social Media so I thought I would get in touch; an Auntie, Uncle and three cousins. My cousins have changed so much and I have actually missed them a lot because I used to be close with my Mum's brothers and sisters, but with time, family problems erupted and, like brothers and sisters do, they fell out. So after 8 years, I decided I wanted to get back in touch and my Mum helped me.

It is actually a really good feeling when you get back in touch with people you have not seen in ages, especially when it is family! It is like you know they still care and have missed you as well.

Family means everything to me, and I am a very family oriented person.

I have completely lost contact with my other family members, but I would like to see my cousins because I miss them. Though I have never met my other Aunties, Uncles and Cousins, I would like to meet them all just to see what they are all like.

However, I have seen two of my Nana's Sister's but one of them I see at Christmas because she lives hours away near the Coast, and the other sister and her family I haven't seen for years because we lost touch. I have my cousin on Social Media but we never talk, she has recently had kids of her own so she has to concentrate on them.

Knowing that I am getting back in touch with some of the family members I haven't seen in years makes me feel so much better and a little bit of me feels a bit more whole. They have been a part of my life for the first few years of my life and they are important to me; family is family to me, and I would love to see them again. A visit should be soon in my plans because they are my family and they belong in my life.

Family is forever.

See you later.

Life Update

So have you all missed me??

Now is time for you to catch up on my life seen as I had deserted you for a little while. It has been about a week and a half since I last posted and I do apologise to the viewers and followers that wait for my posts to pop up on their screens. I have just been soooo busy especially with my new job! Yeh, you read right. I finally have a job, and it is full time. Say whattt.. woo!

Though it has been a while since I have posted, I haven't forgot about you and everyday I have been itching to get on the laptop and do a blog post for you all! So thankfully today I have the day off work and I can fill you all in with a week and a half worth of posts. Hopefully, this post isn't too long for you to read and you don't get bored. I have pictures for you to see too.. haha!

So let's start from the beginning.

Daniel's Teddy Bear and onesie.

So Daniel's birthday is coming up pretty soon, 11th April to be exact, so I decided that I would have a shopping day with my Mum and my Nana to get Daniel's presents. It took a while to actually get something because most of the stuff I looked at wasn't appealing and I knew Daniel wouldn't like half the stuff. Thankfully, I saw a Onesie and knew that Daniel has been wanting one of them for a while. I got him a penguin one, well the reason is simple, I thought he would look cute as a penguin haha random right?

Mum and Nana went to do a bit of shopping as well seen as they were in shopping centres. Why go shopping and not buy anything, there's no point. All three of us went to different shops but I needed a pair of long white stockings because I had a trial for the new job I have gotten. You will understand why I needed stockings later in the post. Mum and Nana both got what they needed so we decided that we would go for something to eat and then head off home.

Before they took me home, I visited my Grandad first. I missed him a lot and I don't have the time to visit him like I used to before I moved into my own flat; I find the time now when I am not working to go visit family, but it will be quite hard due to now having a full time job.

Anyway, once I visited family, Mum dropped me off at home where I found Daniel still sleeping in bed haha. He was being lazy. It was around 1pm when I got home which isn't that bad seen as Daniel finished work 3:00am that morning. Waking Daniel up was funny but when I told him I had gotten his presents for his birthday and I wasn't going to give them him until the day, he instantly wanted to see them... of course I gave in and wanted to see his face once he had his presents. Bearing in mind, these presents aren't the only presents he is going to get for his birthday, they were just the few and simple ones I was going to let him have early.

You should have seen his face when I showed him his onesie; his face lit up ad he put in on straight away! It was sooo cute!.... But when I showed him his Teddy.... He laughed and told me he loves his presents! Such a relief to see Daniel so happy to see some of the presents. Mission complete.

I love this picture.

As you all know, Daniel loved his Teddy, and he loves it that much he takes it round the house with him. It sleeps in our bed and watches TV with us. It is so funny but also cute. This is Daniel's first ever Teddy. He is turning 20 years old in April and he has never ever had a Teddy before. Guess what Daniel called his Teddy Bear!....

Alfie is Teddy's name and I actually love that name. It is the most cutest name ever and it is adorable how Daniel named his Teddy Alfie. Alfie the Teddy. Has a ring to it; you just want to cuddle the Teddy!

So before I tell you what my new job is and what the white stocking were for, I just wanted to cam-whore first. The only reason I took this photo is because I really liked my hair and make-up, plus I hadn't shown a selfie in a while on my blog. This was only about an hour before I started my trial for the new job. I couldn't explain how excited I was when I went for the trial, never mind the fact that I got offered a trial.

Okay, the job I applied for didn't have a vacancy or an advertisement saying there was a place going, but I decided to send my CV anyway. Within a few days, I had gotten an email offering me a trial. I didn't have an interview for the job, which I was surprised at because every other job I have ever had came with an interview before anything.

Work Uniform

Believe it or not, this is actually my work uniform and this is what the white stocking were for. Cute right? This is the comfiest work uniform I have ever worn.
What is the job?
The job is a full time waitress at the Bierkeller, The Printworks, Manchester, and it is the best place I have ever worked. The Bierkeller is a German Style Bar, which explains the dress, it is a traditional Bavarian Dress. Yeah I agree, the dress is a little revealing and it makes me get unwanted attention; I am not going into detail but I can say that Man + Alcohol + Drunk + Girl in this uniform = creeped out girl who needed security to remove certain people from the bar. Pretty much explains it right?

However, though there is times I am creeped out by drunken, weird, creepy men, I really enjoy my new job. The staff are so easy to get along with, it is such a fun bar, there are mostly polite people to serve, I caught on pretty quick, and it is a great environment to be in. Though there are days that a rushed and really busy in the Bierkeller, it keeps me occupied and time goes quickly. There are also days, like Tuesdays, where the bar is quiet and there is not much to do expect serve a couple customers, collect in a few glasses, serve food, and walk round the room a load of times whilst your feet hurt. Haha. The job is fun when it is busier and there are plenty of people I can talk to, serve, and make their night a good one and they enjoy their night out.

I am now a full time waitress, wearing a cute outfit, and finally earning myself money so I can pay my own way. Woo! Time to celebrate!

Happy YearAversary!

Daniel and I have officially been together only a year, but it feels like so much longer because of how much we have both been through. Here is the story of how we met each other:

Daniel and I both met at my Sister's football match (FC United of Manchester) where the girls were playing a match against Manchester City. We were both at the pub with friends and family and the only thing I saw when I looked around was Daniel's big blue eyes, and I mean BIG. They were so big and beautiful that I just couldn't stop looking. He caught me, which made me look away and keep peaking every so often haha. I told my Mum that I thought he was cute, bearing in mind i have never seen him before, and this was the first time I ever saw him at the Girls Match. Mum told me to go and say Hi and introduce myself, I didn't. I would of if he wasn't surrounded by people and I was really shy; he was cute, how could I just stroll over and introduce myself when I knew I would just stare at his eyes and drool? (I wouldn't drool obviously.)

After the football match, everyone headed over to the FC Lounge where I hung out with the girls and my sister and got something to eat. Now Daniel was pretty drunk by then seen as there was a bar; he was dancing with his mate and I didn't want to disturb them, plus I thought seen as he was drunk, he wouldn't remember me even speaking to him. A man my parents knew, told me to 'go and get him' because some how he knew I had a crush on Daniel by then. I just laughed it off and headed home with my parents.

Now when you can't get the guy you have a crush on out of your head, you try all you can to find out what he was called and a way you could talk to him the chicken way. (Social Media.) I found out what the man that told me to 'go get him' was called, and I found picture of him and Daniel together. I soon added Daniel on FaceBook and started to talk to him. Before we knew it, we found out we had so much in common and the conversations just flowed; we got on really well and we started dating.

I found out he lived about an hour and a half a way from me so we could only meet up every so often but we exchanged numbers and spoke everyday for hours on end without even noticing how often we actually spoke. We started going to the FCUM Men's games together, and also meeting up in Manchester City Centre to spend quality time together. Now Manchester started to get boring because there is nothing to do except shop and walk around.

We kept meeting up and talking for hours and eventually we started to get closer. Before we knew it, we were pretty much 'boyfriend and girlfriend' but after dating for around to months, we still didn't label ourselves. When you get to a certain age, you don't label relationships, it jsut flows and what ever happens happens. Eventually, on the 20th March 2013 Daniel asked me if we could be boyfriend and girlfriend and of course I agreed seen as we were together but not labelled.

So that is the story of how we met each other and got together.

Okay time to tell you about yesterday.

Let's start the obvious way, where I tell you I woke up. So.... I woke up, and Daniel decided to tell me that he has a 'thing' to show me, now I was tired and confused because there is never a thing. I wouldn't budge out of bed because I was still half asleep and didn't want to move, but Daniel wouldn't tell me what the thing was until I got out of bed and went into the front room and shut my eyes. Eventually I did just that and Daniel strolled in with a card, a box of chocolates and some sweets. When you are me, you realise that it isn't your birthday for another two months, it wasn't valentine's day and you can't figure out what it is until it is too late.

I opened the card and realised it was our 1 year anniversary of being together. Of course, I felt like crap because I forgot what day it was but I didn't expect presents or anything and I didn't expect a card at all because we never get each other cards seen as we don't see the point in them. Okay, so in this card is a seriously cute letter Daniel wrote to me which made me cry with happiness because it is the best card I have ever recieved. It explained how much he loved me and stuff like that which I am not going to share because it is personal and I want it to stay between me and Daniel. You understand right?

Waking up to Daniel giving me gifts and the best card ever, made my day a whole lot better and I was in such a happy mood all day. Sadly, I had to go to work so Daniel was left at home. He had his own chill time and have his own quality time to pamper himself and do what guys do. What do guys do when they have the day to themselves?

So that's my life so far for you.

I will post as much as I can but sadly it won't be as much a week as I used to because I now have a full time job. GO ME! :D

See you later.

Parents and the Affairs.

I just want to first say that these are my opinions and thoughts on this matter.

My thoughts are about the young parents right now. Parts of this still relate to the older parents.

I think it is disgusting how parents smoke weed, do drugs, go out partying nearly every weekend, and drink around their kids. Never mind just the older parents, but it is the young parents too! I know they are young (between 16 and 20 years old) but why would you decide to have a kid then still do all the disgusting things?

Once you decide to keep the baby, you need to realise that you're not going to have a normal teenage life and they have to grow up quickly. If you want to have a normal teenage life where you can do all them things, don't have unprotected sex!

If you do become pregnant, take a step back and realise what you are getting yourself into.

It really pisses me off how young parents have a child then still decide to go out and get pissed/high every weekend. They need to sort their priorities out!!!!

Nonetheless, I think I will actually be such a good Mum because I know the rights and wrongs and I know I will be a good parent.

Why would you jeopardise the fact that there are firsts that you will miss if you go out and do them things when the first's in a child's life is in their first year? I know I won't go out to pubs and clubs until the child is at least 1 year old. I want to see the child's firsts because they are amazing. Their first: sneeze, laugh, giggle, smile, word, crawl, steps etc. Why would you go out and miss all these important things?

These things are magical.
I wouldn't dare miss any of them because my child will mean the world to me.

I would love to become a parent one day, but right now, I am being a teenager. Well... most teenagers don't live in their own flat and standing on their own two feet. I live with my FiancĂ©, Daniel, because that is what we both chose. We knew we would miss out on some of the things that teenagers do, but that is what we wanted to do. We work for a living so we can keep a roof over our heads, live together, save up money, go on holidays, go out, and one day have a child once we are stable enough in life.

It is the best thing I have ever chose to do.

One day I will be a parent and I will be the best one I can be.

In any case, if you are a young parent, or any age for that matter, and you got out nearly every weekend, drink around your kids, or smoke weed... SHAME ON YOU! You shouldn't be allowed kids! You shouldn't have decided to have unprotected sex if you wanted to live your life drinking and smoking all the time.

Grow up.

Be a parent.

It is the same with affairs in a relationship and marriage.

Why would you have an affair?
If you are not happy in your relationship, end it, don't cheat.

What is the point in cheating?
You are just going to hurt the people that love you and you are just hurting yourself. If you are not happy then change it. There is no excuse in having an affair: there is no 'heat of the moment,' and no 'it just happened.'

NO. There just isn't an excuse. You shouldn't be doing it FULL STOP.

To me, cheating is gross and physically makes me feel sick. There is no forgiving when someone has an affair. If you have cheated in the past or had an affair before, you will do it again and there is no turning back. Trust will have completely gone all together and you will never be able to be trusted again by your partner or anyone else in the future.

I will never cheat on Daniel or have an affair because I love him and would never do anything to hurt him. I respect him and trust him. He also trusts and respects me.

Why would any want to jeopardise trust and respect in a relationship? Seriously, if you are not happy right now and want to be with someone else, do the right thing and end the relationship before you seriously hurt someone. It would be better if you left rather than cheated.

After all, if you try and hide the fact that you have cheated before, one way or another the truth will come out soon. It may not be by you but it will come out; maybe a person who knows tells your current partner.

Trust. Gone. Vanished.

Good luck if you are a cheater or have cheated in the past. I would not like to be you.

ps// I have nothing against young parents, many of the people I know are parents and I couldn't be happier for them.

Life Problems

I actually hate living in a block of flats. There is always someone either opening and closing the main door, stomping up and down the stairs, shouting or arguing at each other, and drunken and come in and party upstairs. Plus, it's not as quiet as living in your own house and you don't get much peace.
So frustrating.
I can't wait to move into a house so I can actually live in peace and quiet and not have idiots stomping up and down the stairs every so often.
Daniel has gone to work again; and once again I am doing the same thing as I do every day. I am glad I have the shifts next week though so I can actually get out the house and also earn some money. Plus, I would have something interesting to write about on each blog entry. To be honest, even you know that this post is pretty shit and boring....
.... wait ....there is someone arguing upstairs... oh the joys of living in a block of flats. -_-
Ugh!!! I can't wait to get out of this place.
Anyway, I am glad I have my own space and living as an Independent Person... does anyone remember when my blog address was something along the lines of, Life as an Independent Woman?? Haha I am so glad it is just my name now. Sometimes I wish I kept it as Life as an Independent Woman but now that I have more viewers and people following me, I am keeping it this way to save confusion...
Where was I? Oh yes. Daniel has been working five days straight but tomorrow he finally has a day off, which I am happy about because he can relax and have his own time to himself to do what he wants. I get jealous that Daniel gets to go out and work whilst I am stuck in applying for jobs which I just get turned down by; I wish I had a proper full time, five days a week, 9 til 5, good paying job. Hopefully sometime soon I will get an interview and a job offer and I won't have to be stuck in all the time.
Have you ever wondered if you are good enough for a job but then get turned down so you think that you are worthless, useless, stupid etc.? Well I think that I am all of them seen as I have been turned down by jobs many of times recently. I have so much experience, voluntary and paid, but nothing seems to work. I am glad I have the part time job at the Phones4u Arena, but truthfully, it isn't paying the bills; I am hardly getting any shifts and I have tried to get myself shifts. More than likely, nothing happens and I am just stuck in like a loser with no money.
At least I know my free days where I can plan to do things where I can either go out, visit family, or spend the day with Daniel.
Daniel got his new laptop yesterday and guess who is using it now hehe! I am so glad he has got this laptop because my little shitty notebook does nothing for me; it is sooo slow and I can hardly blog on it seen as it keeps crashing whilst I type. Plus, the screen is way to small so I can't see what I am doing on it properly; thankfully Daniel's laptop is a proper full-sized laptop and works perfectly. No more slow typing, shitty view, and not being able to do what I want without it breaking.
Maybe I just break laptops... Shit... I hope I don't jinx this laptop.
I'll blame it on the dog... If I had a dog.
Please don't break. Please don't break. Please don't break. Please don't break.
I wish the couple upstairs would stop arguing. Maybe the woman found out her boyfriend is cheating on her. Whoops... have I said too much ;)
I don't see why people cheat. Why cheat? If you are not happy in a relationship, just leave. It's simple.
Don't make the person you are with unhappy and angry, make them realise that you want out of the relationship and then go and be with another person. Don't cheat. It is horrible, disgusting, disrespectful, selfish, and just damn right appaulling. It actually makes me sick to the stomache.
Knowing that people I know have been cheated on, makes me feel so angry and I just automatically hate that person. No one will trust you ever again. If you try and date anyone and they find out that you have cheated before, they won't ever trust you and they will always be on edge. They say people can change, but cheating in the past and being a cheater is what you can never change.
Think about it.
Would you date a cheater?
What if they told you that they have changed and will never do it to you?
Would you believe them?
I wouldn't.
Once a cheat. Always a cheat.
Oh thank god. The couple have gone out of the building.
Time for some peace and quiet, and time for me to relax.
So on that note....
See you later.

Have you been taught enough in dept about Sex Education?

As you walk round the streets you will see many young sexually active children over the age of 15 years old, some even younger, and you think 'do these children really know about sex and the consequences of being active?'

However, even though 'Statistically' teen pregnancy has lowered, you still see many young adults with children of their own. Why is this? Have they not been taught about sex education, protection, and consequences of their actions? They may say that they have had the talk from their parents or had a sex education class is school, but was it in dept enough?

On the other hand, many parents don't have 'the talk' with their children so they are missing out on the chance of educating their children on things they really do need to know. Though it is awkward and quite irritating whilst talking about sex and why they should protect themselves from all kinds of things. I, myself, know too well all about this awkwardness as i have had the talk off my parents many of times.

Britain has the third highest number of sexually active 13 to 15 year olds in the world...horrific right? And more than one third of young women regret their decision to have sex so early. Denmark and Iceland have more. A worrying 38% of teenage girls regretted losing their virginity and a fifth say they felt pressured to do so. Girls who become sexually active in their teens are more than three times as likely to be depressed as those who don’t.

Pressure is a worrying this as many young people feel they have to have sex by a certain age. I think that Chick Flicks and other teenage films have a play in this as they are all for teenage sex, take American Pie as an example. Friends of these young people will also pressure them as they feel it is what has to happen, bullying is a name for it i suppose!

It is like a competition in High School and College of who can lose their virginity first and some lads feel like they need to compete on how many girls they can sleep with. Losing your virginity is not a competition, it is a life choice and it should be respected; young people should feel ready to have sexual intercourse before they do anything. It is so much better to feel ready than to feel pressured.

Males play the lead role in this, as they get 'egged on' to sleep with girls at a younger age. Women are so much more vulnerable and want to 'make their boyfriend happy' so they feel they have to do what the lad wants to. In my own opinion, I think young adults, men more than women, feel that if they have sex, they feel as if they are 'being adult' This leads to the notion they can do other things that adults do, so teenagers who begin having sex at a significantly earlier time in their lives than their peers are more likely to engage in delinquent behaviour.

It has become normal for young people to be embarrassed of you don't have sex, as if there is something wrong with you. Being pressured and feeling embarrassed, makes young people force themselves into something they shouldn't rush into!

Having sexual intercourse at a young age leads to empty relationships and low self-worth as the experience creates worry, regret, self-recrimination, guilt, loss of self-respect, shaken trust, depression, stunted personal development, damaged relationships, and relationship skills. At worst, it can also have a negative impact on marriage, which is horrible as marriage is supposed to be something so magical and natural.

I want to play my part and help to teach those people who have never, or have had a slight talk/education class about sex.

Protection - most common

A woman can get pregnant if a man's sperm reach one of her eggs (ova), so contraception tries to stop this happening by keeping apart both the sperm and the egg.

The male condom is 98% effective, which means that 2 out of 100 women in a year will get pregnant; this form of protection also stops the spread of sexually transmitted infections (STI's)

Female Condoms are also available, especially in the UK. The UK brand is called Femidom.

Condoms are available free from:
  • contraception clinics (sometimes called family planning clinics)
  • sexual health, or genito-urinary medicine (GUM), clinics
  • some GP surgeries
You can also buy condoms from:
  • shops
  • pharmacies
  • supermarkets
  • garages
  • vending machines in some public toilets
How do I use Condoms?
  • carefully open the foil packaging that the condom is wrapped in, taking care not to tear the condom
  • hold the tip of the condom between your forefinger and thumb to make sure it is put on the right way round, and that no air is trapped inside (the condom may split if air is trapped inside)
  • place the condom over the tip of the penis
  • while squeezing the tip of the condom, roll it down over the length of the erect penis
  • if the condom will not unroll, it is probably on inside out – start again with a new condom as there may be sperm on it
Make sure that the condom stays in place while you are having sex. If it comes off, stop and put on a new one.

Femidoms allow women to share the responsibility of choosing what type of contraception to use before having sex with their partner. Female condoms can be inserted at any time before sex, but must always be inserted before the penis touches the genital area.
  • carefully remove the female condom from its packaging, taking care not to tear it
  • place the closed end of the condom into the vagina, holding the soft inner ring between your forefinger or middle finger and thumb
  • use your other hand to separate the folds of skin (labia) around the vagina, then put the squeezed ring into the vagina
  • put your index or middle finger or both in the open end of the condom until the inner ring can be felt and push the condom as far up the vagina as possible, with the outer ring lying against the outside of the vagina
  • the outer ring of the condom should rest closely on the outside of the vagina at all times during sex – if the outer ring gets pushed inside the vagina, stop and put it back in the right place
  • make sure that the penis enters the condom – take care to ensure that the penis does not go between the condom and the wall of the vagina
Immediately after sex, slightly twist and pull the end of the condom to remove it, taking care not to spill any sperm inside the vagina. If this happens, you will need to seek advice about emergency contraception from your GP or pharmacist.

Combined Pill
The combined oral contraceptive pill is usually just called the pill. It contains synthetic (artificial) versions of the female hormones oestrogen and progesterone, which women produce naturally in their ovaries.
The hormones in the pill prevent your ovaries from releasing an egg (ovulating). They also make it difficult for sperm to reach an egg, or for an egg to implant itself in the lining of the womb. The pill is usually taken to prevent pregnancy, but can also be used to treat painful periods, heavy periods, premenstrual syndrome and endometriosis.
  • When taken correctly, the pill is over 99% effective at preventing pregnancy. This means that fewer than one woman in 100 who use the combined pill as contraception will get pregnant in one year.
  • You need to take the pill every day for 21 days, then stop for seven days, and during this week you have a period-type bleed. You start taking the pill again after seven days.
  • You need to take the pill at the same time every day. You could get pregnant if you don't do this, or if you miss a pill, or vomit or have severe diarrhoea.
  • If you have heavy periods or painful periods, the combined pill can help.
  • Minor side effects include mood swings, breast tenderness and headaches.
  • There is no evidence that the pill makes women gain weight.
  • There's a very low risk of serious side effects such as blood clots and cervical cancer.
  • The combined pill is not suitable for women over 35 who smoke, or women with certain medical conditions.
  • The pill does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs), so using a condom as well will help to protect you against STIs.

Contraceptive Implant
The contraceptive implant is a small flexible tube about 40mm long that's inserted under the skin of your upper arm. It's inserted by a trained professional, such as a doctor, and lasts for three years.
The implant stops the release of an egg from the ovary by slowly releasing progestogen into your body. Progestogen thickens the cervical mucus and thins the womb lining. This makes it harder for sperm to move through your cervix, and less likely for your womb to accept a fertilised egg.
  • If implanted correctly, it's more than 99% effective. Fewer than one woman in 1,000 who use the implant as contraception will get pregnant in one year.
  • It's very useful for women who know they don't want to get pregnant for a while. Once the implant is in place, you don't have to think about contraception for three years.
  • It can be useful for women who can't use contraception that contains oestrogen.
  • It's very useful for women who find it difficult to take a pill at the same time every day.
  • If you have side effects, the implant can be taken out. You can have the implant removed at any time, and your natural fertility will return very quickly.
  • When it's first put in, you may feel some bruising, tenderness or swelling around the implant.
  • In the first year after the implant is fitted, your periods may become irregular, lighter, heavier or longer. This usually settles down after the first year.
  • A common side effect of the implant is that your periods stop (amenorrhoea). It's not harmful, but you may want to consider this before deciding to have an implant.
  • Some medications can make the implant less effective, and additional contraceptive precautions need to be followed when you are taking these medications
  • The implant does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). By using condoms as well as the implant, you'll help to protect yourself against STIs.

How the implant works

The implant steadily releases the hormone progestogen into your bloodstream. Progestogen is similar to the natural hormone progesterone, which is released by a woman's ovaries during her period.
The continuous release of progestogen:
  • stops a woman releasing an egg every month (ovulation)
  • thickens the mucus from the cervix (entrance to the womb), making it difficult for sperm to pass through to the womb and reach an unfertilised egg
  • makes the lining of the womb thinner so that it is unable to support a fertilised egg
The implant can be put in at any time during your menstrual cycle, as long as you and your doctor are reasonably sure you are not pregnant. In the UK, Nexplanon is the main contraceptive implant currently in us.

IUS (intrauterine system)

An IUS is a small, T-shaped plastic device that is inserted into your womb (uterus) by a specially trained doctor or nurse.
The IUS releases a progestogen hormone into the womb. This thickens the mucus from your cervix, making it difficult for sperm to move through and reach an egg. It also thins the womb lining so that it's less likely to accept a fertilised egg. It may also stop ovulation (the release of an egg) in some women.
The IUS is a long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) method. It works for five years, so you don't have to think about contraception every day or each time you have sex. The brand name of the IUS used in the UK is Mirena.
You can use an IUS whether or not you've had children.
  • It's more than 99% effective. Less than one in every 100 women who use the IUS will get pregnant in five years.
  • It can be taken out at any time by a specially trained doctor or nurse and your fertility quickly returns to normal.
  • The IUS can make your periods lighter, shorter or stop altogether, so it may help women who have heavy periods or painful periods.
  • It can be used by women who can't use combined contraception (such as the combined pill), for example those who have migraines.
  • Once the IUS is in place, you don't have to think about contraception every day or each time you have sex.
  • Some women may experience mood swings, skin problems or breast tenderness.
  • There's a small risk of getting an infection after it's inserted.
  • It can be uncomfortable when the IUS is put in. Painkillers can help with this.
  • The IUS can be fitted at any time during your monthly menstrual cycle, as long as you're definitely not pregnant. Ideally, it should be fitted within seven days of the start of your period because this will protect against pregnancy straight away. You should use condoms for seven days if the IUS is fitted at any other time.
  • The IUS does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). By using condoms as well as the IUS, you'll help to protect yourself against STIs.

Emergency contraception (morning after pill, IUD)

Emergency contraceptions can prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or if your contraceptive method has failed. There are two types:
  • the emergency contraceptive pill which is also called the morning after pill
  • the IUD (intrauterine device, or coil)
There are two kinds of emergency contraceptive pill. Levonelle has to be taken within 72 hours (three days) of sex, and ellaOne has to be taken within 120 hours (five days) of sex. Both pills work by preventing or delaying ovulation (release of an egg).
  • Both types of emergency contraception are effective at preventing pregnancy if they are used soon after unprotected sex. Less than 1% of women who use the IUD get pregnant, whereas pregnancies after the emergency contraceptive pill are not as rare. It’s thought that ellaOne is more effective than Levonelle.
  • The sooner you take Levonelle or ellaOne, the more effective it will be.
  • Levonelle or ellaOne can make you feel sick, dizzy or tired, or give you a headache, tender breasts or abdominal pain.
  • Levonelle or ellaOne can make your period earlier or later than usual.
  • If you’re sick (vomit) within two hours of taking Levonelle, or three hours of taking ellaOne, seek medical advice as you will need to take another dose or have an IUD fitted.
  • If you use the IUD as emergency contraception, it can be left in as your regular contraceptive method.
  • If you use the IUD as a regular method of contraception, it can make your periods longer, heavier or more painful.
  • You may feel some discomfort when the IUD is put in – painkillers can help to relieve this.
  • There are no serious side effects of using emergency contraception.
  • Emergency contraception does not cause an abortion

Now you know about the most common contraceptives that are chosen to be used and you can protect yourselves from STI's and unwanted pregnancy. Remember you can stop using the pill, take out the IUS and Implant whenever you feel ready to start a life. I don't recommend this to younger people, as a steady life is needed before bringing another life into the world.

I will now be talking about the female and male genitals. If you do not wish to learn about this area, you might as well click off this entry. Thank you for reading this far and I hope you have learnt something.

Male Genitals

Male Genitals come in all different shapes and sizes, what is normal is what's normal to you. You may compare to other men but everyone is different. Remember that.

Urethra: the duct by which the urine is conveyed out of the body from the bladder, and which in male vertebrates also conveys semen.
Testicle: There two oval organs that produce sperm which are enclosed in the scrotum behind the penis.
Epididymis: a highly convoluted duct behind the testis, along which sperm passes to the vas deferens.
Vas Deferens: a duct that carries sperm from the epididymis to the ejaculatory duct.
Prostate Gland: a gland surrounding the neck of the bladder and releasing a fluid component of semen.
Seminal Vesicle: each of a pair of glands which open into the vas deferens near to its junction with the urethra and secrete many of the components of semen.

Female Genitals
Male Genitals come in all different shapes and sizes, what is normal is what's normal to you. You may compare to other men but everyone is different. Remember that.

Vulva: the female external genitals.
Vagina: the muscular tube leading from the external genitals to the cervix of the uterus.
Cervix: the narrow neck-like passage forming the lower end of the womb.
Uterus: the womb.
Ovaries: female reproductive organs in which ova or eggs are produced
Fallopian Tubes: a pair of tubes along which eggs travel from the ovaries to the uterus.

That's it from me. I hope you have learnt something and know more about sex education.

See you later.
